Trust Administration

A trust is a legal arrangement in which an individual (the grantor) gives fiduciary control of the property to a person or institution (the trustee) for the benefit of beneficiaries. Trusts can provide protection of an individual’s assets during their lifetime or in the event of a disability and can be structured to ensure the support and security of a decedent’s family, usually with significant tax savings. The Trust Department administers the assets according to the instructions in the written trust document.

Estate Administration & Guardianship

Estate Administration, or probate, is the process by which the estate (property) of a deceased person is distributed to heirs at law. The Trust Department, acting as executor or administrator, performs duties prescribed by the probate process – including preservation and management of assets, payment of expenses, preparation of tax returns, and making distributions per will or statute – in a timely and professional manner.

Certain individuals are not legally able to handle their own affairs because of age or incapacity. Upon a petition of an interested person, courts may appoint an individual or financial institution as guardian or conservator to handle the financial affairs of a minor or an incapacitated individual. The Trust Department, as guardian of a person’s estate, performs many duties including managing and investing assets, paying expenses, preparing and filing income tax returns, and submitting periodic reports to the court for its review.

Investment Management

In light of the economic and market conditions over the past few years, many investors today realize the importance of professional investment management. They are demanding investment advice that is free of conflicts of interest with full disclosure of fees and other charges. They want someone on their side, looking out for their best interests, helping them to develop an investment strategy geared to their unique goals and risk tolerance.

The Trust Department provides investment advisory and management services to meet the needs of individuals and families as well as charitable, not-for-profit organizations, foundations, and other entities.

Institutional/Nonprofit Services

CNB Bank & Trust Wealth Management Group has a long history of providing investment management services to institutional clients. You and your board members work to further the mission of your institution.  We work to support that mission by understanding your unique investment needs and meeting your portfolio’s objectives.  Our Wealth Management team serves your board as a fiduciary, which aligns our interest with yours. We have experienced staff who can provide additional services beyond the role of investment manager. Our team members, for example, can assist your board with investment and spending policy reviews and specialized investment screening [such as environmental, social and governance (ESG) characteristics, religious restrictions, etc.] to ensure fiduciary obligations are met.

Trust and Wealth Management Services: not a deposit, not FDIC insured, not insured by any Federal Government agency, not guaranteed by the bank, may go down in value.
